Sunset Flight at the Ranch

This was filmed at a friend’s ranch around sunset, with golden light fading over the distant green hills. The helicopter happened to be wearing its “Sunset Orange” canopy, almost like it belonged to the evening sky.

No competition, no pressure, no routines — just relaxed freestyle helicopter flying in good weather with an open field all to ourselves. Some flights are about practicing maneuvers; others are simply about enjoying the moment.

The live stick inputs are overlaid to show exactly what I was commanding during the flight. To some people, 3D helicopter flying can look almost unreal, but after enough hours in the air, it begins to feel less like controlling a machine and more like flying as one connected system.

With the sunset, open fields, and distant hills, everything seemed to slow down. Just flying with the scenery, following instinct, and settling into that quiet state of flow.

Days like this remind me why I fell in love with flight in the first place.
